22:47, Omeath, near the harbour. Looking out to Warrenpoint

I did have another try at my barrels. On the film I am also in the picture. A girl I met in an internet cafe just happened to pass when I was busy taking the shot.

By now I have left Dublin. I did find it a great city, but that is mainly due to the people. Yesterday I also went into town, but the fumes from the traffic started to bother me. I also started to notice that there were no great views, there were no 'amazing buildings'. Not so bad, the people make it a greate place to be in. Where did I go to? I first went to the northern part. There is a huge cinema there and I wanted to have a look. Unforntualty there were only films playing that I already knew or don't need to see. Then I went back to my car (slowly). Some random shots taken on my walk:

Felt like Amsterdam. Exercise #2: Which of the cars is not clamped?

No comment needed..

For the 'nerds' amoung us. This is an entire atari-home-computer. It includes 10 games. You just connect the joystick to the T.V.

The worst thing of Dublin. The fumes. If you like to excerise you will pass the trucks waiting for the ferry (or a few double deckers).

The best thing of Dublin. The people. They are all just waiting for their bus to arrive.

After I refilled the parking meter I went to the Jameson Whiskey Distillery. This was wat I expected when I went to the Guinness brewery. A bit of a setback but I was spoiled... At least now I know the main differences between Irish, scotch and bourbon:
- Irish whiskey is (usually) destilled 3 times. The marley is roasted in an oven. This gives the whiskey a smooth taste.
- Scotch is (usually) destilled 2 times. The marly is roasted over a peat or oak fire. This gives the whiskey a 'smokey' and rougher taste.
- Bourbon (American whiskey) is destilled only once and made of corn instead of marley. That's why it is sweeter.
What I also expected was true: I like scotch best. I won't say no to an Irish whiskey. And American whiskey should be mixed with cola. Don't drink it as it is...

After tasting some whiskeys I went to the Trinity college. There should be the best buildings Dublin had to offer. So I went there for the sunset, but it was not that great. Again as I said it are the people, not the buildings. There were 2 or 3 great buildings. There was also one that was just so ugly that it was worth a price. One of the best buildings was the old library. To bad it was closed. The worst building was the current library. While I was taking some photo's I got into contact with two durch girls that studied to become a vetenary. The 3 of us went for diner, after that they were so tired (not bored :) ). They were up for almost 24 hours. So altough the Guinnesses called their names, they dragged themselves to their bed. And I went to see a pub!

The Long Hall on south Georges street. The best looking pub I did find.

Today I went for another scenic drive, it was cloudy so it didn't come up all that great. I also went to see Newgrange. This was an old 'tomb' in a man made hill. I did not expect to much of it, but the visitor centre and the information they provided were perfect. When we went inside the tomb I was impressed. There was a big chamber (at least for a building 5000 years old, older then the pyramids and much older then stonehenge). The chamber was still intact. And what suprised me more: It was completely dry! 5000 years ago they were already capable of engineering a good waterhousehold. And the other amazing thing of course was that at the 21st of december the light strikes exactly into this chamber via a hall. They simulated it with some lights and that to was amazing. To bad I was not allowed to make pictures. I have a thing for buildings and architecture and this was one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. I was able to buy a photo, but it is such a poor shot that it does not show any of the impression the real thing gives you.

Some pictures on the outside. (that was allowed)

When I finished diner, I started to realise that the number of days I have left are limited. So maybe I have to make a rough plan to make sure I have enough time to spend on the places that I'd really like to see.

And the view before I made diner.
