23:24, Near letterfrack, at the N59 (near Connemara National Park)

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CAMPER USERS! See green part below.

But first back to the beginning of today. To start with the place I was this morning:

While I was waking up, a sailing school was busy. I need to make a note for myself. I should also sail more. The last time was 2 years ago... The last picture shows how close I was standing to the next camping.

I already spend quite some time updating the cost & photodata section. So I'll keep it short today. Again I went for a scenic ride. I shall try to keep better notes, but there are some sections you should drive: I thought the section R310 Portloon-Castlebar was worthwhile. But if you get the chance you should drive the R297 Dromore west - Inishorone. This part was certainly worthwhile (you will get to see the photo's later).

In Westport I visited an cyber-cafe. The nicest ever. Don't go to the ugly one (with international phoneboots). Go to the one near the Octonal square. When you are there you will know what I mean. But about this photo: Don't look at the houses, don't look at the cars. But this was the one place I could perfectly catch a photo of the smoke generated by burning peat. One chimney smells nice, but I wonder what it smells like here during the winter...

But there is one piece of road that was absolutely fabulous. I made more photo's per hour then kilometers. I think my milage was about 1 photo/km. When I get back to Ireland I will for sure walk this section (it might take a day, but it was so great). The road I am talking about is the R335 from Louisburg-Leenaun. Mainly the section from Cregganbaun until the end of the Doo-Lough-Pass. It was a bog landscape between two hill-ridges. Clouds were blown over them. Falling from the one, climbing up the other. Lot's of small streams and of course some sheep. The road was absolutely not busy and of a very good quality. I also made some photo's with the sharp and altough it is not usable for landscapes I think it was already capable of capturing some of the beauty.

It was so perfect here, I could even catch it sometimes using the sharp. The last one I even did while preparing my minolta. I didn't even have to look, it couldn't miss (except that the horizon is not completly straight :) ).

In 'these kind of countries' it is very usual to have some sheep on the roads. But I think I made some of the best 'sheep on the road' photo's ever (at least for my personal use).

Today I was looking for a spot for the night. Altough this part is very touristic (lot's of camp-sites, hotels, hostels and B&B's) there is hardly any place to find to put a camper. Since I also ran low on fuel, I wanted to first get some diesel before going to sleep. The amount of gas-stations is not as high here as in the rest of the country. So I had to drive 15km to get to the first one that was open. In all that time I didn't see a single decent place to stay for the night. Except for the one I am now. on the N59 Clifden to Letterfrack, there is a small harbour near Letterfrack. That's the best/only spot in the region.

The only spot I could find to stay for the night near Connemara Park.

It is now almost midnight, the batteries of the sharp are exhausted and so am I. I will go to bed now... Tommorrow Connemara park & Calway city (where I will spend the night). Those were two tips I did get and if they are half as good as the road towards here, it will be a great day!

The photo I didn't get out of the camera anymore (so they are added on wednesday): The view I did have looking out of my sliding door during diner.
