21:00, Finally in Ireland

Talking about a slow start...

After packing my stuff into the camper, get the last shoppings and leaving a note, I was finally moving in the beginning of the afternoon. First place to visit: The Mercedes garage in Helmond to pick up my brake-fluid-switch. But before I was there, the phone rang... There was a problem at work. They were lucky that Eindhoven was still in front of me, I did not pass it yet. So after I came back from the garage, I went to work (did not pass jail and did not collect 5000 euro's). Somebody also had his birthday(cake). But then at 16:00 I was really-really-really leaving!

F-i-n-a-l-l-y on my way (Jabbeke parking in Belgium)

Since I was not able to go to Hull, I decided to take the route I took many times before: Calais-Dover. A quick check on the internet showed that Hoverspeed is still the cheapest solution. They go by the hour so the choice was easy. When I arrived at the port at 19:50 they told me the next boat would leave at 21:30. The 20:30 was delayed. This was not to bad, the 21:30 is cheaper and I did have some time to eat diner.

At the hoverspeed terminal.

Diner is served.

Port of Calais at sunset.

Entering Dover port

After reaching dover (the ferry left a bit earlier), I still did have time left to pass Londen. The fact that I entered another timezone helped me also. At midnight parked at a service eara of the M4 near Reading.

Not the nicest spot to sleep, but it is for sleeping only...

This morning I checked where to go next and at 2:00pm I was at Pembroke, ready to check in on the ferry to Rosslare-Ireland!

Excercise #1: Find the camper.

One thing I learned last year is to buy a detailed map that also contains the minor roads. I now have such a map and I was able to use it to get to the coastline.
So while I was writing all the above, I had a spectaculair view. In front of me, about 3km away is a small island with a lighthouse. Right of me is the moon and in the back is the sun that was setting and made a perfect light. I now am going to close down and take a walk to the beach...

Better place to sleep.
